MARYLAND - MARCH, 2013

As always when I go to visit Michael, Brooke, Mick and Zoe I have a wonderful time. This spring was no exception. A spring storm had just crossed the United States dropping a lot of snow through the midwest and the eastern states, but that did not stop us from taking a weekend trip to visit the University of Virginia and Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello. These were both new places that I had never visited before.

The University of Virginia was founded by Thomas Jefferson and is a beautiful campus. Many of the main buildings were undergoing renovation, but we had a great time just walking about the campus.

Monticello was the home that Thomas Jefferson built. It sits on a beautiful hillside just a few miles from the University of Virginia campus in Charlotte, Virginia. The home was designed with many unique innovations. Although there was lots of snow on the ground, it was a beautiful, sunny day when we visited.

The last Saturday that I was there Brooke had to work at Johns Hopkins, so Michael and I took Mick and Zoe to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. to see a lacrosse game. It was another beautiful and sunny day, and we had a great time.

I'm looking forward to my next visit in the fall.
